We had Christmas with the Dahles on Sunday night (12.14.08) since only one of Ryan's siblings will be in WA for the holidays. We got together for a Christmas ham and presents! We all had a good time and got lots of nice things! This year, for his nieces and nephews, Ryan asked me to make pillows after he saw an "Ugly Doll" that my niece has. He thought it was pretty funny, so that's what we did. Ryan drew them out, I sewed them together. I think the kids liked them - at least they didn't scare them! Tomorrow we're heading off to Calgary for Christmas with my family. We're so lucky to get two Christmases!!
Well, I've made it to week 28! I'm REALLY starting to get big now, but I know I still have a long way to go. I'm feeling good. No complaints, except maybe that I just cannot get comfortable when I'm trying to sleep. It's just uncomfortable to have such a big belly! Oh, how I miss sleeping on my stomach. Still lots to get done around here before Baby arrives! Hopefully Ryan and I will get everything done in time.(12.14.08)
This will be our fifth Christmas since Ryan and I have been married, and we finally have stockings! Ryan wanted me to make our stockings and I thought it was a good idea until I actually started. It has taken me over a year to do. I wish I hadn't made them because now I'll have to make one for the baby next year, too. Would be so much easier to just buy them!
I had my six month appointment on Tuesday. I'm really starting to feel like time is running out to get things done before the baby is born. We have lots to do, and poor Ryan has a long list of projects I want him to get done in the next couple of months. I know the next few months are just going to fly by, especially with Thanksgiving, Tiera and Carson's wedding, and Christmas coming up! So many fun things to look forward to! "It's the most wonderful time of the year!"(11.17.2008)
The past two weeks I feel like I have gotten huge! I really didn't gain much the first half of the pregnancy - about 5 or 6 pounds - but I think I'm starting to make up for it now. The baby is really growing now, and he kicks like crazy - especially late at night and early in the morning. Here's my belly at 22 weeks.(11.02.2008)
We hit the halfway point on Saturday! I can't believe how fast the time is passing. I love feeling baby moving around in there - it makes getting fat worth it! Just for the record, I can still wear some of my regular clothes, but they are a little (okay a lot) on the snug side. Still feeling really good; just tired on days that I work. We're both so excited for this little boy to keep growing! Ryan's so excited he went to REI today and bought some little wool socks and Keen shoes (but the shoes aren't going to fit until baby's older and walking around.) I'm trying to keep track of how big I'm getting each month, so here's a picture at 20 weeks!(10.20.08)
The cute little shoes Ryan got for his boy
Today Ryan and I went for our ultrasound to check baby out! It was so fun to get to see the head, the face, the heart, arms, legs, feet, and everything else. We got to watch baby for over a half hour - actually, it may have been closer to an hour - I'm not sure. But, so cute! We wanted to know, and we were told (and saw) that we are having a BOY!! I know they say that they can never be 100% sure, but we're pretty darn sure! The baby measured on date - 19 weeks, 5 days - so my due date is still March 7, 2009. Here's little boy!

I actually did some canning - all by myself! Pretty impressive, don't you think? I didn't do much. We had one box of tomatoes that needed to be used, so I borrowed my mother-in-law's canning supplies and I made my mom's yummy salsa and just a couple pints of spaghetti sauce. Both turned out pretty good, although the salsa was milder than I thought it would be. It was time consuming, but fun. Next year I think I'll try to do more - maybe can some other fruits and veggies and make jam. The nice thing about living in Washington is that there's so much fresh produce here, so I think I should take advantage of that!

Ryan said that yesterday was the first day I really looked pregnant. I'm starting to feel more pregnant, too, now that my tummy's growing. I feel really good, and am starting to feel like I need to get my house in order before baby comes. (I guess "nesting" is a real thing for me.) I have been catching up on my photo albums, and today, I'm canning salsa (thanks for the recipe, Mom) and tomato sauce and dehydrating pears. What a domesticated lady I am!
Okay, so not the most glamorous picture of me, but you can see that I'm getting wider. Still not into maternity clothes yet, but can't fit into half of my regular clothes. Ryan says I'm getting fat, but loves it! I love it, too. It's kind of fun to be fat when there's a good reason for it. Alright, getting hungry - better go eat.(09.10.2008 - 14 and a half weeks)
I suppose everyone already knows, but - we are having a baby! The baby is due March 7, 2009. I've been feeling really good, and am thankful that I haven't really been sick at all - just hungry. I think I like being pregnant, but I don't know that it's really, completely sunk in yet. Ryan is very happy about the whole thing. I think he's wanted a baby since the day we were married. Poor guy. He only had to wait four and half years. It turned out to be perfect timing though, considering Ryan has a great job now, we have a house, I've been able to work a little...we have more of a stable, set life right now, especially compared to the last four years of being in school, moving every four months, moving for internships, working for $6/hour and all that fun stuff. Yes. Life is good. We're ready. We're happy. We'll keep you updated.
