hockey fan

Gavin got to go to the Seattle Thunderbird's hockey game with Ryan and Uncle Jesse. I think he had
fun on his boy's night out.

Our big boy in his Thunderbird jersey.

We went again as a family a few weeks later. It gets kind of loud, but it doesn't seem to bother Gavin, and he LOVES the Thunderbird's mascot, Cool Bird. It was a fun family outing. I think we'll go one more time this season with Gavin.

going on a walk with daddy

Gavin was having a rough time the other day. He just wasn't happy, was whiney, and wouldn't take a nap. Mommy was tired, too. So, Daddy took Gavin for a walk. Gavin cried when we first put him in the carrier, but ended up really liking it, pointing at things along the way, and finally falling asleep. What a good dad Ryan is.

eating

Gavin has gotten really good at feeding himself, at least when it's something he wants to eat. He usually has to have a fork and a spoon while he eats.

Although it changes day by day, some of his favorite things to eat are yogurt, grilled cheese sandwiches, grapes, kiwi, bananas, bagels and cream cheese, crackers, hummus, chicken, macaroni and cheese, and anything sweet or chocolatey. There are only a few things he really doesn't like. He usually spits out peas, and doesn't really care for potatoes. He's not a fan of babyfood in general, and likes to eat things that need to be bitten or chewed. I guess he likes to use those six little teeth! Overall, he's a pretty good eater, and still has those chubby cheeks to prove it.

little stinker

Gavin has been opening cupboards for a while now, but this was the first time he climbed into one. He pulled out all my tupperware and containers, threw them on the floor, got out of the cupboard, and put all the containers back in. Funny. We put latches on the cupboards a few days later :)

for auntie tt and uncle carse

Hi Auntie TT and Uncle Carson! Gavin was SO excited to watch his new movie you gave him while we were home. Isn't his face funny!?
Thanks for the entertainment (for Gavin and for me - haha). We love you!

canada

We got to go to Canada for a quick trip at the beginning of January to go to Sean's farewell and see him before he headed off to the MTC and then to Tokyo, Japan!
We flew up with my sister and her family. It was Gavin's first plane ride, and he did great! Slept the whole way there and the whole way back. Thank goodness it's such a short flight. Look at all these cute flyers!

While we were in Canada, we had lots of fun and got to see lots of family. Gavin got to see his great grandparents for the second time and got to play with his second cousin, Devon - they were born only 3 days apart!

We loved spending time with Uncle Sean! He is the best! Gavin loves him (and his guitar.) We're going to miss him for the next two years, but we're so happy for him and proud of him, too. He is going to be one good missionary!
Elder Sean Harushi Crapo and his cute, cute family! (I wonder how different this picture will look in two years when Sean gets home.)

Christmas day

We spent Christmas Day with Ryan’s family. Got up early to be out there for breakfast, opened presents, ate good food, and just spent the day playing and relaxing. All of Ryan’s family was able to be together. It was a fun day!

Christmas eve

We’re having a Washington Christmas this year. Since we’ll be spending all of Christmas day at Ryan’s parents’ house tomorrow, we decided to have our own little family Christmas today. So, Gavin and I got up this morning and made blueberry cornmeal pancakes with orange butter and bacon, chocolate milk, and egg nog. It was super yummy, but I think Gavin liked it the most. Here’s proof:

After breakfast, we opened presents. Gavin was so fun to watch. He got excited about ripping, crinkling, and trying to eat the paper, he played with the boxes, and loved his new books and toys. He was most excited about his storybook and finger puppets from Grammy Tia and Grampy Leron. He also loved the storybook they gave him. The boy loves books!

We spent the rest of the day cleaning the house and cooking up a storm for Christmas Eve supper. We had all the Dahles (minus Chad, Kate and the girls) over at our house. Ryan was the master chef, and I was his sous chef. On the menu: tomato bisque with mozzarella and basil, scrumptious molasses glazed pork with apple butter, mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, and asiago herb rolls. So good. We didn’t end up having dessert…it got too late for the kids, plus we had other treats (pretzel yummies and muddy buddies) so we’ll save the cheesecakes for tomorrow. It was a good day. Merry Christmas to all!

A new toy for Gavin...

...or maybe it's for Daddy

old man hair

Check out the tufts of hair that stick out above Gavin's ears. And it's not even too bad in this picture. His hair is getting darker and thicker. My boy is cute, but, he needs a haircut.

crawling boy

Gavin's been scooting around backwards for well over a month, and before that he rolled wherever he wanted to go. He's been mobile for a while now. But, yesterday, he decided it was time to move forward. So he did. And now he's crawling all over the place. It's fun to see him go where he wants to go!

the real thanksgiving

a.k.a. Canadian Thanksgiving

My family all made the long trip to be together for Canadian Thanksgiving this year at our house. We were nice and "cozy" in our little place, and had lots of fun and lots of food (as always).

Thanks for
coming everyone! Come again, soon. We miss you.

handsome man

We've had such a great summer. Nice and warm - even hot - and lots of sunshine. Today it really feels like that perfect summer is over. Not a bad thing. It just feels like a great autumn has started. So, Gavin and I went for a quick walk to a the little park around the corner, took some pictures, and sat on the swing. (Gavin's so cute on the swing - he doesn't hold on to me; he holds on to the chains.)

Here are a couple pictures of my sweet, handsome, adorable, chubby little man.

seattle sounders football club

We took Gavin to see the Seattle Sounders a couple weekends ago. I think Ryan wants him to be a sport's fan. We've already taken him to a baseball game and now to a soccer game, and he's only six and a half months old! It was kind of loud, and Gavin was scared at first, but then got used to it, had some fun, tried to eat some strange man's hot dog, got rained on, and eventually fell asleep. It was a lot of action for one day.

A little rain, but we didn't mind

half year

September 12 was this cute little man's half birthday. It's hard to believe that he's already 6 months old. He had his 6 month checkup on Monday. He's a healthy boy, and still growing!

Weight: 21 pounds, 4 ounces (95th percentile)

lake chelan

We went to Lake Chelan for Lydig's PTL golf weekend. Ryan golfed, Gavin and I went for walks, we all went swimming, ate food at the company BBQ, and hung out with friends. A nice little holiday.
